By the close of the Getty’s six-year Online Scholarly Catalogue Initiative (OSCI), all eight participating museums had published online catalogues and were planning for more. Yet, following this landmark initiative, significant challenges remained, particularly in catalogue discoverability and longevity. Getty Publications has tackled these issues head-on in several recent publications and its new open-source software package. By focusing on web standards, version control, multiple-format publishing, and plain-text source material, the Getty continues to push forward the promise digital publishing holds for all museums.
