From the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising to the First World War, this is a decade of centenaries in Ireland. This session will explore how museums on both sides of the border have commemorated these anniversaries and how they have dealt with the contested histories of these significant events. Speakers from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will reflect on how museums have interpreted these historic events and worked with communities to explore what the events mean to contemporary Irish society.
