After four years of organizing teen events in partnerships with various museums in New York City, the teen-led group Museum Teen Summit (MTS) revisits some of the valuable lessons learned in their experience as a youth-run organization. In a session led entirely by teens, you will learn about the power of peer learning in creating conversations about social issues, ranging from transgender LGTBQ rights to #BlackLivesMatter. MTS will present a selection of activities that they have led in teen events in multiple museums. These activities encourage teens who come from different backgrounds to discus social issues that are not touched upon in a typical school setting. Our stories highlight how museums can be spaces for social justice education.
