Museums across the United States are increasingly developing initiatives to engage Latino audiences while at the same time they incorporate more Latino content into their collections, exhibits, and programs. Meaningful engagement with Latino audiences doesn’t result from a simple formula; it must take into account a variety of frameworks and considerations, including the goals and contexts of the institutions themselves. In this session, you will hear from four museum professionals involved in serving Latino audiences, who will discuss their approaches to creating effective programs including partnerships, mentorship, exhibitions, and educational and engagement strategies. The session will highlight best practices with theoretical reflections in order to stimulate discussion.
