LED lighting and digital controls offer museums more than just the opportunity to reduce their lighting energy and maintenance costs. A new generation of “smart” lighting and controls is giving museum professionals the power to strengthen the overall exhibit experience by customizing lighting to complement what’s on display. This interactive case study will examine how the Art Institute of Chicago is integrating LED lighting and digital controls to enhance the experience of art, artifacts and objects in several of its galleries. We will give you a hands-on demonstration of how the latest, cutting-edge LED lighting technology and easy-to-use digital controls can be integrated into a variety of exhibit settings to engage guests, elevate content and improve visual acuity, focusing specifically on how to customize white LED lighting to replace the incandescent sources traditionally used in museums.
