Many museums invite LGBTQ audiences to visit, most by way of targeted marketing (i.e. Pride fests and gay media). This panel highlights museums that have taken the next step—designing programs that draw LGBTQ audiences into the hearts of their institutions through enduring and mutually beneficial relationships. The panel will also address the challenges of maturing LGBTQ audience engagement in the context of today’s rapidly changing legal and social conventions. The panel includes perspectives of both LGBTQ and ally practitioners. You will come away equipped with lessons learned and examples of programs designed to help you achieve your institution’s aspirations for engagement, inclusivity, diversity and access.
