This session examines the cultural phenomenon of taking selfies. It will explore the psychology of selfies and museum policies with regards to security and copyright. In this session, you will hear from presenters who have used the popularity of self-portraiture to form innovative programs that engage audiences. Examples include trending hashtags, the organization of museum-sponsored selfie contests, and the implementation of in-gallery apps that take portraits and alter them in relation to an exhibition or theme. This will be followed by reporting on findings that illustrate the impact of their initiatives. Finally, the moderator will field your questions and invite you to share your own experiences about selfie-inspired activities in museums
